Purpose of This Archive
IcebergSlim.org is an independent historical archive dedicated to preserving the life, literature, and cultural impact of Iceberg Slim (Robert Beck). This site is NOT affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the estate of Iceberg Slim, any publishers, or any related parties.
All books, commentary, and archival references are presented strictly for non-commercial educational, literary, and historical purposes under Fair Use (17 U.S.C. §107).
This archive documents the public life, writings, interviews, and cultural influence of Iceberg Slim — including his contributions to street literature, his impact on hip-hop, and his role in shaping modern urban storytelling.
There are no ads, no merchandise, and no monetization on this website.
All rights to Iceberg Slim’s writings, likeness, and literary works remain with their original copyright holders.
This project exists to preserve the complete and accurate historical record surrounding Iceberg Slim — including his books, verified biographical information, interviews, and references in popular culture.
These materials were publicly released over several decades and have since become part of American literary and cultural history.
This archive does not add ads, monetization, or unauthorized branding.
Its purpose is documentation, education, and preservation of culturally significant material that might otherwise be forgotten or lost.

The archive gathers what helps tell Robert Beck's story accurately. Some of it is already here. The rest is added as it is found and checked.

The 1970s film of Trick Baby, and the 2012 documentary Iceberg Slim: Portrait of a Pimp.

His spoken-word album from the mid-1970s, which hip-hop historians often point to as an early influence.
